Rocky Linux Support Deprecation Announcement

We want to provide you with advance notice of an important change to cPanel & WHM. Beginning with version 134 (scheduled for March 2026), cPanel & WHM will discontinue support for Rocky Linux 8 and Rocky Linux 9.

Why This Change?

We regularly evaluate our supported operating systems to ensure we can provide the best experience for our customers. AlmaLinux has become the clear choice in the RHEL-compatible ecosystem, with significantly higher adoption. This change allows us to focus our development and support resources where they’ll have the most significant impact on our community.

What This Means for You

If you’re currently running cPanel & WHM on Rocky Linux, you’ll need to migrate to a supported operating system before upgrading to version 134. We recommend AlmaLinux 9 or 10 as an excellent alternative.

The good news? Migration is straightforward. We’ve tested a conversion script that makes switching from Rocky Linux to AlmaLinux simple:

(Please ensure you copy this entirely as a one line command)

curl -O https://raw.githubusercontent.com/AlmaLinux/almalinux-deploy/master/almalinux-deploy.sh bash almalinux-deploy.sh

Timeline

  • Now: Start planning your migration
  • March 2026 (v134 release):
    • Rocky Linux systems will not be able to upgrade to v134 or later
    • New installs of cPanel & WHM on Rocky Linux will be blocked
